Captain of Sunshine Spikers VC of Akure, Daniel Nathaniel revealed that his team is better prepared than their opponent, Kano Pillars VC ahead of their encounter.

Sunshine Spikers VC will face Kano Pillars in the men’s third match at the 2024 Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League in Abuja on Monday (26th August, 2024).

Nathaniel told www.aclsports.com that Sunshine Spikers are in top form after rebuilding the team ahead of the league.

He said the target is to top the first phase of the league and clinch the title in the second phase.

The captain of Nigeria men’s senior team said, “Sunshine Spikers have always been prepared and ready for the league since inception. The club is good to go, after rebuilding the team and i feel it is time for us to take what belongs to us which is the top place in the league.

“In our first match, Sunshine Spikers will take on Kano Pillars VC. I must confess that Kano Pillars is a decent team but we are way better because based on statistics, Sunshine Spikers have more wins over them in the past.

“People should expect a good volleyball style of play from Sunshine and I bet you, we will beat Kano”.

While reacting to their fourth-position finish at the last Premier League, Nathaniel said, “It was very painful that we lost out in the medal table but it was due to the injury of some of our players. This year, everyone is back and we are ready not just Kano Pillars but all the teams”.

He commended the board member of Nigeria Volleyball Federation for securing a sponsorship for the league this season.

He said, “The President and his board members have done well by securing a sponsor for the league. The standard of the league keeps improving yearly because of the level of competitiveness amongst players and teams”.
