Cameroon unveil squad for FIFA Women’s World Cup

Cameroon women national team coach Alain Djeumfa has named his roster for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup in France (June 7 – July 7).

Out of the 23 players called up, 15 participated in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada while 19 played at the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations held in Ghana.

Three foreign born players were initially invited but only Estelle Johnson (defender) and Michaela Abam (striker) made the final list.

Ysis Sonkeng of Amazone Fap of Yaoundé returns to the national team after three years of absence while midfielders Charlene Meyong and Marlyse Ngo Ndoumbouck are newcomers.

One of the three goalkeepers, Mambingo Mambingo Isabelle, plies her trade in Nigeria with Sunshine Queens.

The Lionnes Indomptables are currently carrying out preparations in Spain following an initial camping in Cameroon.

Drawn in Group E, Cameroon will open their campaign against Canada on June 10 before facing the Netherlands and New Zealand.

Strikers : Madeleine Ngono Mani , Gaelle Enganamouit, Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene , Michaela Abam, Ajara Nchout Njoya, Henriette Akaba Edoa, Alexandra Takounda Engolo
