Lobi Stars’ first choice goalkeeper Olufemi Kayode has told www.aclsports.com that his team must build on the “crucial point” they earned against Wydad Casablanca in their CAF Champions League group stage game in Rabat on Tuesday night.

Kayode pulled off a number of good saves to complement what was a strong defensive showing by his team as they claimed their first away point in the Champions League this season, also Kayode’s first clean sheet of the competition.

After recording a 0-1 loss against the Moroccans in Enugu ten days earlier which put them on the brink, only a result could do for them in Rabat, a mission they accomplished efficiently.

“The point was very crucial and important to our aspirations as a team,” said Kayode to www.aclsports.com

“The only way we can come out of this group was by getting a point or a win out of yesterday and that was why we came all out to get all three points back as they took from us but we got one and we will pick it up from there.”

The point regardless, Lobi Stars remain bottom of the group with four points from as many matches. The Pride of Benue must then get another good result from their next game which will be away to 2016 champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

“For Sundowns, we will prepare very well for them and I know if we come all out on them, they can’t stand us so I urge myself and my teammates to put yesterday’s game behind us and get ready to face Sundowns because we have to qualify and we will,” said the former Akwa United goalkeeper who clocked 30 on Wednesday.

The game against Sundowns comes up on March 8 meaning that Lobi Stars will have enough time to prosecute few of their outstanding Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matches which have arose from their participation in the continental tournament.

Lobi Stars will face Remo Stars in their next league game at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi next Wednesday.
