Rivers State, Nigeria will stage the 2018 Africa Wrestling Championships said the United World Wrestling Federation.

The 2018 Africa Junior and Senior Wrestling Championships will be held at Rivers State indoor sports complex, Port Harcourt.

The West Africa country will be hosting the championships 42 years after inception on the Africa continent.

In a text message from Paris to ACLSports.com, the President Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali said, “Port Harcourt gets the nod to host the 2018 Senior Africa wrestling championships, Bravo.”

Nigeria and Tunisia placed a bid to host the 2018 Africa Wrestling Championship that is scheduled to take place in February.

This is the first time the Africa Championship will be hosted in Sub Sahara Africa after 10 years.

It will be recalled that the United World Wrestling (UWW) Africa boss, Fouad Meskout promised that the West Africa country will be favored after expressing satisfaction in the level of facilities and equipments during a two days inspection in Port Harcourt.
