The Technical Director of Mindscope Academy, Olufemi Oluseyi said he still cannot believe his players beat Lagos state U18 female team at the ongoing National Handball Championships in Lagos.

Oluseyi told www.aclsports.com that handball academy based in Ota, Ogun state is attending her first national championship after five years of existence.

He said, “Our victory against Lagos state is both wonderful and unbelievable. This is an academy of just five years old and this is our first national competition in Nigeria”.

“So it is unbelievable that we won our first game against a highly rated Lagos state”.

Oluseyi said the instruction given to the girls during the first half break was to play the game like a friendly match.

He said, “Honestly, I told them that losing to Lagos is not a big deal; Lagos is a known and better team but try to show the world that you are also good”.

“So we told them to continue the second half as if it was a friendly match and not give up. Lo and behold the girls went out and surprised us by winning the game by a point 26-25”.
