Akwa United midfielder Dare Ojo told https://aclsports.com that his side’s performance against Kano Pillars in their matchday one success on Sunday was excellent.
The Promise Keepers thumped Sai Masu Gida 3-0 courtesy goals from Ezekiel Bassey, Stephen Chukwude and a late goal from Friday Ubong to begin their Nigeria Professional Football League title defense in style.
Ojo, who played the entire duration of that comprehensive win, said they were excellent and quite perfect to get the victory over Salisu Yusuf’s side.
“Our performance against kano pillars was excellent because the attitude we all put in was great,” began Ojo to https://aclsports.com
“We played them at the just concluded presidential cup. So we learned from our mistakes and made them perfect in the game on Sunday” the versatile player added.
Ojo, who now has his gaze fixed on the matchday two fixture against Shooting Stars in Ibadan on Boxing Day, stated that the team (Shooting Stars) lacks enough mature players in their squad, but they cannot be regarded as pushovers at all.
“Yes, I have played against them a couple of times. The calibre of players they have then was more mature than the ones they have now but they’re not a pushover team and it is not going to be easy”
The former Lobi Stars player last played against Shooting Stars in the NPFL when Enyimba lost 1-0 on their visit to Ibadan back in 2017 and will be hoping for a much better return this time.
The big encounter between Shooting Stars and Akwa United is expected to kick off by 4pm on Sunday.
