Niger Tornadoes and Kano Pillars are through to the 2019 Aiteo Cup final, ACLSports.com can confirm. The duo booked their places after hard-fought victories in their respective semifinal matches on Thursday.

Tornadoes shocked Rivers United 2-1 at the Soccer Temple in Agege to reach the Aiteo Cup final for the second time in three years.

All the goals came in the first half with Eric Frimpong and Dosso Saib, who scored an excellent free kick just before the break, the scorers for the Ikon Allah.

Kehinde Adedipe had given the Pride of Rivers hope when he canceled out Frimpong’s opener to level scores at 1-1, but the Stanley Eguma side was made to pay for their profligacy, especially in the second half.

Despite a dominant performance, Adedipe’s goal proved to be nothing but a consolation for the wasteful United.

With the result, Tornadoes have now been guaranteed a place in the CAF Confederation Cup as they will face Kano Pillars in the final.

In the second semi final played at the Aper Aku stadium in Makurdi, Kano Pillars were made to work really hard before overcoming Calabar Rovers.

Pillars needed a penalty shootout to see off Rovers after their game ended 1-1.

Pillars converted four of their kicks for a 4-2 win over Rovers.
