Edo Queens recorded the most impressive result of the AITEO Cup quarter final first leg schedule as they held defending champions Rivers Angels to a 0-0 draw in Port Harcourt.
Facing the reigning league champions for the first time this season, the Benin City based side put up a show of dogged determination to leave the second leg tie on Saturday open for both sides to take.

Angels came close to scoring on 9 minutes through Amarachi Ojinma but her carefully weighted freekick came off the cross bar.
All other first leg ties ended in 1-0 scoreline in favour of the home teams.

In Uyo, Imaobong Emmanuel scored at the death to earn Ibom Angels a derby victory over Pelican Stars of Calabar while in Umuahia, Abia Angels held on to a first half lead in their defeat of Confluence Queens of Lokoja.
Taiwo Akinyinka scored the game’s only goal after 33 minutes to give Ann Chiejine’s side a slim first leg advantage.

In the day’s other tie, last year’s beaten finalist Bayelsa Queen laboured to a 1-0 victory over Nasarawa Amazons.
Winger Aminat Yakubu scored the only goal of the game ten minutes before half time.
