Samuel Ogwuche is the latest player to arrive at Nigeria men’s senior volleyball camp in Abuja ahead of the 13th African Games in Ghana from 8th to 23rd March 2023, www.aclsports.com reports.

Ogwuche’s arrival was confirmed by the Technical Director of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Martin Melandi.

The Al Bashaer Club of Oman VC player arrival brings the number of players currently in camp to 20.

Ogwuche said he is optimistic that the present crops of players in the country can spring up a surprise at the 13th African Games.

He told www.aclsports.com that giving up is not an option when the tournament begins.

He said, “The most important thing for us now is to go to Ghana and stand on the podium; I believe in this group, we have a bunch of talented players to execute the job, fingers crossed, and we are going to do so well.”

“The volleyball league has created opportunities for players to play outside the country and have access to standard facilities. When we played in the first phase of the league, you could see that there was a difference in the way most of the foreign based players played”.

“The men’s volleyball team is capable of ending Nigeria’s long wait for an African Games title after 21 years of no medals. We let them down,” Ogwuche told www.aclsports.com

Meanwhile, Samuel Ogwuche donated 20 sets of socks to the men and women’s national teams as a means of encouragement to his teammates.
