Nigerian midfielder Afeez Aremu has told www.aclsports.com that he is hoping to help FC Kaiserslautern achieve their goals and aspirations this season.

Aremu, 23, completed a move to 2 Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern from rivals St Pauli on Wednesday, ending a three-year stay at the beautiful city of St Pauli.

The former Akwa United star whose move is reported to be in the region of €400,000 hopes to help his new side achieve their aim for the new season.

“My aspiration for Kaiserslautern this season is to bring my skills and my talent to try to help the team to achieve what we want to achieve this season,” began the Super Eagles midfielder to www.aclsports.com

“Every team in the second division are hoping to go to the first division so that’s the goal for Kaiserslautern and we shall see. We want to make our team strong and competitive and we will see how the thing goes game after game,” added Aremu.

Afeez Aremu made fifty-nine appearances (59) for St Pauli during the three years he spent at the club and he admits it was very difficult to leave having gradually becoming a cult hero among the club’s fans.

“It was really difficult for me to leave FC St Pauli because I like the club, I like the city and I like the people around the club.

“I felt welcomed at the club especially the fans, they love me so much so it was difficult to say goodbye to everyone and I’m going to miss them but in football it’s difficult for players to stay in one place forever. It is difficult to say goodbye but at the end everything will be over in one or two months and we see each other in the future,” an emotional Aremu said.

Aremu who has been capped at international level by Nigeria could make his debut for FC Kaiserslautern in their 2 Bundesliga game against SC Paderborn on Friday evening.
