Super Eagles trio of Victor Osimhen, Calvin Bassey, and Ademola Lookman made the CAF Team of the Tournament at the AFCON 2025, www.aclsports.com reports.

Although Nigeria finished third in the 35th edition of the continental showpiece, the trio stood out with their performances on the pitch, as the Super Eagles walked away with their ninth bronze medal of the competition.

Just three countries made up the entire Team of the Tournament, as Senegal and hosts Morocco paraded four players apiece, with Nigeria accounting for the remaining three.

Morocco’s Yaccine Bono beat competition from Senegal’s Edouard Mendy and Nigeria’s Stanley Nwabali to claim the goalkeeper’s spot in the team of the tournament. Earlier, the former Sevilla goalie also won the Golden Glove award.

In defence, Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Moussa Niakhaté (Senegal), and Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco) are joined by Nigeria’s Calvin Bassey as the four defenders chosen by the panel.

Despite his impressive displays for the Super Eagles in the middle of the park, Alex Iwobi could not get a spot in the list, as CAF went with Idrissa Gueye (Senegal), Pape Gueye (Senegal), and Ademola Lookman (Nigeria). The Atalanta forward finished the tournament with seven goal involvements (three goals and four assists).

In attack, Player of the tournament and AFCON winner with Senegal, Sadio Mane, is joined by Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, who scored four goals in the competition, and Golden Boot winner Brahim Diaz of Morocco.
