The Super Eagles of Nigeria progressed to the semi-final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following a man of the match performance from Samuel Chukwueze which earned Nigeria a 2-1 victory over South Africa.

The Villareal man was on song for the Eagles scoring the opener in the 27th minute and creating numerous other chances which Musa especially failed to put away. In the end, Nigeria won thanks to an 89th minute strike by Troost Ekong after the South Africans levelled. But it was once again Samuel Chukwueze who lit up the Cairo International Stadium with his runs and skills on the night.

Meanwhile asides appreciating Chukwueze for his performance, Nigerians have taken to twitter to banter South African fans who throughout the build up and duration of the game were in their loud voices confident of a win against the three time African Champions.

Mehn, you hate to see Nigerians get on your case! Below are some of the most hilarious tweets on the night.

I don’t know why South Africans are sad. This is AFCON, this is Nigeria. What were you expecting? Congratulations on scoring your first AFCON goal against Nigeria. Let’s celebrate the little progress. #AFCON2919

Dear countrymen

Do not be dismayed if you wake up tomorrow and MTN has deducted your data/credit, or if your DSTV suddenly starts to scramble and look for network,

Stay strong.
That’s the price of victory 😂😂😂

A victory we 1-2 boldly say is worth it.
