Nigeria Super Eagles held their final training session before Sunday’s #TotalEnergiesAFCON2023 Group A clash with Equatorial Guinea on Saturday evening in Abidjan, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Eagles go into tomorrow’s opener as one of the favourites of the group alongside hosts Cote d’Ivoire and the tournament as a whole. At the training session held at Ecole Nationale de Police, Abidjan, all the players available took part in the session except the ones the coach confirmed will be unavailable due to their late arrival.

Jose Peseiro’s Eagles took part in the full training session ahead of  Sunday’s game. The session, which only the first fifteen minutes was open to the media, was intense as the side finalized their preparations. With the absence of Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Boniface, the fans are waiting to see the new formation the head coach will employ.

Team vice-captain William Troost Ekong took part in the session despite nursing a slight bruise just above the knee, while goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali made some great stops including Ekong’s penalty during the session. With Kelechi Iheanacho, Paul Onuachu, and Terem Moffi all unavailable, it remains to be seen which player will partner Victor Osimhen in the centre-forward position in Peseiro’s beloved 4-4-2 formation.
