The CEO of Prudent Energy and Service Limited, Alhaji Abdulwasiu Sowami has revealed that his firm resolved to invest in handball due to the passion and personality of its federation president, Sam Ocheho.

Sowami’s company bankrolled the Prudent Energy Handball League won by Kano Pillars and Safety Babes in Lagos are in the second of a five-year league sponsorship deal with the Handball Federation of Nigeria.

He applauded Ocheho’s leadership for turning around the fortunes of Handball in the country.

“The President of Handball Federation of Nigeria, Sam Ocheho is a fantastic human being and very passionate about the sport” Sowami told journalists.

“The reason why we are sponsoring the league is because of his personality and accountable leadership style. The organisation is aware that our funds will not go to waste with him in charge.

“As you can see, the players, coaches, officials and fans are all happy and I want to praise Sam Ocheho and the entire board of HFN for their support”.

On what the future holds, Abdulwasiu Sowami, one of Nigeria’s silent billionaires pledged his unflinching support to the sport while urging other private firms to join in boosting the growth of Handball in Nigeria.

“Ocheho motivated us in putting our money into handball and he is doing a lot and we must always encourage him,” he continued.

“I am using this medium to call on other private investors who are interested in sports, to come to join hands with the handball federation in attaining greater heights in Africa and the world.”
