Saleh said, “The referees will be having their courses and examinations today by the member of World Karate Federation (WKF) Referee Commission (7th Dan) who just returned from the World Senior Karate Championship in Budapest, Hungary.

“The referee course will help upgrade most of the referees officiating in the championship”.

“The championship has definitely contributed to the growth of women’s karate in Nigeria because quite a few of our female athletes have been selected for Nigeria’s National Team through this event not to mention one of its participants, an athlete from Benin Republic, who has been a competitor of this Championship from inception has competed at the World level,” she said.

Prizes will be presented to the gold, silver and two bronze medallists in the Kata and Kumite categories across the senior, junior, cadet, U-14 and U-12 (10-11) weight classes after the end of the competition on Saturday, November 4th.
