The appointment of former Manchester United winger, Ryan Giggs as manager of Wales has led to reactions on social media, including from his former club, the Red Devils.
Giggs appointment was confirmed by the Football Association of Wales, FAW, on Monday.
He takes over the seat vacated by former manager, Chris Coleman, who left for Championship side, Sunderland, late last year.
“With his vast amount of experience having played, coached and managed the biggest club in the world, we are confident of a successful future for our national team,” FAW chief executive, Jonathan Ford, said, via the BBC.
The 41-year has put pen to paper on a four-year contract and was picked ahead of former Manchester City star, Craig Bellamy, and Mark Bowen.
“I am so proud to have been given the honour of managing the National Team,” Giggs said during his unveiling.
Giggs, who has in the past been linked with vacant positions at Swansea and Nottingham Forest, is already looking forward to his new role, and can’t wait to get started.
“I’m tremendously proud and excited, I can’t wait to get going. I’ve got a great group of players to work with, I want to get us back into the Euros,” he added.
The United legend was in charge of his former club for four games at the end of the 2013-14 season after then manager, David Moyes, was sacked in April.
He then spent two years as an assistant to Dutchman, Louis van Gaal, before leaving the club following the appointment of current manager, Jose Mourinho.
Giggs was capped 64 times by his country, Wales, between 1991 and 2007.
