An eventful and exciting COPA Lagos Beach Soccer tournament at the Eko Atlantic came to an end yesterday with Spain as the biggest winners of the competition.

The final day of COPA Lagos saw Morocco defeat Lebanon 2-0 in an ultra defensive match between both national teams. Just before the finals, the male celebrity match took place between: Nigerian ex-internationals (Victor Agali, Victor Ikpeba, Austin Eguavoen, Friday Expo etc)and entertainers (Sound Sultan, Solid Star, Moses Praiz, Sexy Steel etc). In the end, the entertainers came from two goals down to earn a draw and win 2-0 in penalties.

The biggest game of the night then took centre stage as Nigeria came up against Spain – both teams were undefeated prior to this match. Spain went ahead through Llorenc but Emeka put Nigeria right back in it within minutes. Both teams matched each other evenly but after three periods, was Spain who edged Nigeria 6-5 to be crowned COPA Lagos 2017 Champions.

It’s a big one for us to play this match and I’m very happy with my team because this tournament is important in my country, so it was important for us to win.”

The most valuable player of the tournament was awarded to Nigeria’s Abu Azeez, highest goalscorer award went to Morocco’s Nassim El Hadaoui and Spain’s no 1, Dona was the goalkeeper of the tournament.
