Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki recorded her first title win over Venus Williams to secure her first WTA Finals title in Singapore.

The Dane downed Williams 6-4 6-4 to seal victory under 90 minutes throwing her racquet into the air in celebration as she won the final point. Wozniacki had beaten world number 1 Simona Halep, Elina Svitolina and Karolina Pliskova on her way to the final of the season-ending tournament.

After a tight first set, Wozniacki romped into a 5-0 lead in the second. Although the American tried to fight back bringing the game to 5-4, Williams won four straight games but Wozniacki, converted her second Championship point to beat the American for the first time.
