A total of 30 wrestlers are currently in camp as they prepare for the upcoming African Military Games 2024, according to www.aclsports.com

The training session, held in Abuja, features a balanced lineup with 10 Greco-Roman, 10 women’s freestyle, and 10 men’s freestyle wrestlers honing their skills under the guidance of head coach Godswill Tiebri.

The games are scheduled to take place from November 18th to 30th, 2024, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.

Coach Tiebri expressed confidence in the talent within the Nigerian military wrestling community, stating that Nigeria possesses some of the best military wrestlers in the world.

The African Champion highlighted the achievements of athletes like Hannah Reuben, who won gold at last year’s 36th World Military Wrestling Championship in Azerbaijan, showcasing the potential for success on the international stage.

Our athletes have shown time and again that they can compete at the highest levels. “Hannah Reuben’s victory at the 36th World Military Wrestling Championship in Azerbaijan is a testament to our dedication and training. It inspires the entire team to strive for greatness”, he added.

“The wrestlers are not only focused on their aspirations but are also driven by a desire to repay the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, for his significant investments in sports.

“We understand the support we receive, and we want to honour that by bringing home medals,” Tiebri remarked.

Physical Training instructor emphasized the collective goal of the team, saying, “We want to produce more military Olympians and bring home medals at the African Championships and the African/Olympics Games. Our vision is clear, and we are committed to achieving it.”

As the team continues its rigorous training, Tiebri concluded, “With determination, discipline, and teamwork, we are ready to make a lasting impact at the upcoming competitions. We believe in our abilities, and we are ready to show the world what Nigerian military wrestlers can achieve.”
