2023 Africa Para Games: Shittu, Omisore qualifies for semifinal

Nigeria Wheelchair Tennis female duo, Foluke Shittu and Kafayat Omisore have qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing 2023 Africa Para Games in Accra, Ghana.

African number two, Foluke Shittu of Nigeria defeated Ghana’s Stacy Mensah 2-0 (6-2, 6-4) while African number four, Kafayat Omisore beat Ghana’s Bridget Nartey 2-0 (6-2, 6-4) in the women’s quarterfinal matches.

Shittu faces Africa number three, Samira Benichi from Morocco while Omisore battles Africa number one, Najwa Awane of Morocoo in the women’s semifinal matches.

Foluke Shittu told www.aclsports.com that her dream is to qualify and represent Nigeria at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

She said, “My mission to the African Para Games is to pick a ticket for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and win gold medal for Nigeria. I am happy the Federal Government of Nigeria did not allow my dreams to be shattered.

Meanwhile, Williams Ukari and Alex Oluwadamilare lost their quarterfinal matches to African number one, Alwande Sikhosana and African number four, Leon Els of South Africa respectively.
