TojeMarine Academy of Lagos, Kwara state and Niger state recorded huge wins on Day one of the ongoing 2021 National U18/21 Handball Championship in Lagos.

TojeMarine Academy started on a slow note against Plateau state in the U18 Girls category but eventually pummeled the North Central team by 33 to 9 goals in front of their fans at Rowe Park, Yaba.

The head coach of TojeMarine Academy, Olubukola Duru expressed satisfaction over the performance of her team.

She revealed that her players played according to instructions and buried the game in the second half.

Duru said, “These set of girls gave me undiluted joy during the game. I never expected such huge scoreline bit this shows that they played according to my instructions.

“We are not here to impress anyone and we will take each game as they come”.

Defending Champions, Kwara state U21 girls ran over Osun state in the first half by 19 to 3 goals. Osun state could not continue with the second half due to injury crisis and this led to the cancellation of the second half.

Niger U21 Boys did not give Plateau state a breathing space from the blast of the whistle scoring goals from the left and right flanks. Plateau state managed to score some good goals but that could not stop Niger from beating them by 31 to 17 goals in the last match of Day 1.

FCT held U18 Champion, Kogi state 25-25 in a highly entertainment game. FCT led by 24-21 goals in the last three minutes of the game but could not seal victory. Kogi score three crucial goals in the last two minutes and both teams score a goal apiece in the last one minute.
