RC Deportivo goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has assured Super Eagles fans that the goalkeeping department of the team is working assiduously to ensure they excel at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.

Many Nigerian fans have constantly expressed their fears over the team parading a good goalkeeper during the mundial, especially after well documented mistakes by the goalkeepers in recent games.

Nigeria will play at an international tournament without former captain and legendary goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama for the first time in ten years when the Eagles face Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D.

In spite of the fans’ worries, Uzoho insisted that the team have good goalkeepers.

“Right from my first time with the Nigerian team, the goalkeepers I have worked with are all good,” said Uzoho to www.aclsports.com

“We train twice a day and we are working very well to make sure we do well in the competition.”

Competing with Uzoho to be Nigeria’s number one at the mundial are Daniel Akpeyi of South African club Chippa United, Enyimba’s Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Plateau United’s Dele Ajiboye; an outsider to make the team.

Uzoho who won the 2013 World Under-17 Championship with Nigeria at the United Arab Emirates is aware Nigerians have not much confidence in the goalkeepers but enjoined their teaming supporters to keep the faith.

“My frank message to Nigerians is to have confidence in us because we are working hard everyday. We know what is at stake and we’re not leaving anything to chance.

“So, I will encourage Nigerians to have more confidence in us.”

Nigeria will open their World Cup campaign against Europeans Croatia in Kaliningrad on June 16.

Quite concerning, this goalkeeper situation. As he tries to inspire confidence in us, he should similarly do the same to his defense.
