Match day five of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) recorded three goalless draws and three wins in six different match centres across the country.

Delta Queens earned an important away point against Edo Queens to maintain their unbeaten run in the league. In the same vein, Bayelsa Queens were held to a goalless draw at home by Rivers Angels, thus earning a crucial point which keeps them top of group A.

Also top of their group and unbeaten in the league are defending champions, Nasarawa Amazons who were held to a goalless draw in Ogbomosho by league debutants, Jokodolu Babes.

Meanwhile in Owerri, Uduakobong Peter scored the lone goal which handed Ibom Angels all three points away from home against Heartland Queens. The win means Ibom Angels remain unbeaten after five games this season. Confluence Queens then avoided an upset in a five goal thriller to pick all three points after an entertaining game.

In Akure it was the battle of the free-kicks as Tobi Olanrewaju struck a beautiful freekick in the 56th min from 22 yards out to put the home side ahead. 4mins later, it was Rasheedat Ajibade who scored her first league goal also from a free-kick to draw her team level before Rofiat Imuran then sealed all three points for the Akure based team with a well taken goal in the 65th min.

Tomorrow at 4pm, Pelican Stars welcome Abia Angels to the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar; while Adamawa Queens travel to face Osun Babes at the Osogbo Township Stadium.
