Team Nigeria men’s table tennis team continued their impressive run at the XXI Commonwealth Games in Australia. The pair presented by Team Nigeria who got off to good start are through to the round of 16 of the men’s doubles.

Aruna Quadri who just recovered from a brief illness teamed up with Segun Toriola to play the first doubles match.

The Nigerian duo beat Tomlinson Simon and Kane Watson of Jamaica 3-0 (11-3, 11-6, 11-6) on Wednesday.

In the second doubles match, Bode Abiodun and Tayo Olajide recorded an easy ride over their Pakistani opponents. The Nigerian pair emerged 3-0 winners over Khawaja Fahad and Rameez Muhammad (11-1, 11-3, 11-4).

In the men’s singles, Bode Abiodun also booked his place in the round of 32 with a 4-1 (13-11, 8-11,11-2,11-7,11-7) victory over Northern Ireland’s Owen Cathcart.

Later on Wednesday, Aruna Quadri will face Brian Chan Yook Fo of Mauritius while Segun Toriola play against Aaron Wison of Trinidad and Tobago.

Faith Bazuaye made it two wins out of two games in the women’s TT6-10 singles. Bazuaye beat India’s Vaishnavi Sutar 3-0 (11-0,11-2,11-2). While the men’s TT6-10 Singles, Temitope Ogunsanya lost his second match 3-0 (11-9,11-4,11-4) to Barak Mizrachi.
