Chukwuebuka Enekwechi increased the medal tally of Team Nigeria to two after winning a silver medal in the shot put event on Monday.

The 25 year old Nigerian best throw of 21.14metres got him the medal behind New Zealand’s Tomas Walsh who won gold with 21.41metres while Canada’s Tim Nedow took the bronze with 20.91metres.

In his first attempt, Enekwechi threw a throw of 20.25metres, then improved to 20.70metres in his second throw. He then erased his former Personal Best of 21.07metres on his third attempt.

The three time 100m National champion clocked a season’s best at the Commonwealth Games while the second Nigerian, Enoch Adeogoke ran a time of 10.35 seconds in 7th
