A pre-season tournament involving four of the traditional clubs of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) will hold in Lagos with an unprecedented winner takes all ₦100m prize money at stake.

Packaged by Tingo Media in collaboration with NPFL , the invitational tournament, sponsored by Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation, will feature former African Champions League winners, Enyimba International, two former African Cup winners, Rangers International and Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) and Bendel Insurance.

Tingo is Africa’s leading Agric Fintech company transforming rural farming communities to connect through its proprietary platform to meet their complete needs from inputs, agronomy offtake and marketplace.

Tingo also has interests in digital film and television production with an aim to be Africa’s leader in world class quality productions in its recently commissioned studio in Nigeria.

The big money tournament will also see each of the four invited clubs receiving ₦10m appearance fee in the tournament which holds from December 1-4 at the Mobolaji Sports Complex in Lagos.

Head of Operations, Interim Management Committee (IMC), Davidson Owumi, explained that the tournament is a dress rehearsal to the 2022/23 NPFL season.

“This is a peep into what the IMC has in store for Nigerians for the league in the coming season.

“The tournament is the first of its kind in Nigeria and the four teams will play out for the big money, ₦100m for the winner in Lagos”, Owumi stated.

It was gathered that the games of the tournament will enjoy live broadcast streaming.

“It is going to be for us, a test run for the 2022/23 season in terms of the facility on which the games will be played, technology for match broadcast, officiating standards and Sponsorship relationship which is key to running a financially stable league”, Owumi further stated.

He expressed excitement that the IMC has been able to put the tournament together and noted that ” it will give stakeholders and potential investors an idea of what will happen when the league eventually begins”

Concluding, the former Super Eagles forward said, “everything has been put in place and Nigerians will see the best of everything in this tournament”.
