World Police Games Aftermath: Four Nigeria Police Officers bag automatic promotion

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the immediate promotion of four officers that won gold medals at the just concluded World Police and Fire Games in Los Angeles, USA.

The officers are Corporal Martins Ogieriakhi (110 meters hurdle), Corporal Goodness Thomas (100m/200mwomen), Yellow Yeiyah (50m Butterfly Swimming) and Nosa Enibhakare (Light heavy weight Boxing).

Idris said silver and bronze medallists would be rewarded with IG’s commendation and appreciation respectively.

He promised that the police Force would give the athletes all the necessary support to further enhance their performance in subsequent tournaments

“We will try all we can to support you, it is a good achievement for the Force,” he said.

He commended the athletes for making the Force and Nigeria proud, adding that it was the first time this feat was achieved in the police.

The Athletes who participated in Boxing, Judo, Wrestling, athletics, Swimming, won a total of 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze.

The reception for the Athletes happened at the police force headquarters in Abuja
