Striker Amarachi Ojinma scored four times as AITEO Cup defending Champions Rivers Angel dazed non-league side Ben Women FC of Calabar 9-0 in their Round of 16 clash in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

Edwin Okon’s girls left no one guessing as to what their intentions were when Rofiat Sule gave them an early lead, tapping home left back Mabel Effiom’s cross. Sule then turned provider for Ojinma ten minutes before half time before the striking duo added a goal each in first half stoppage time to give their side a 4-0 lead.

After seemingly stopping the Champions in the first 15 minutes of the second half, Ben Women then conceded 4 times within eleven minutes after the hour mark. During this period, Ojinma added two to her tally with full back Amanda Mbaele and enterprising winger Patience Kalu also getting on the score sheet.

Left-back Mabel Effiom saved the best for the last when she scored what was the goal of the day with 13 minutes left. Overlapping down the left flank, she took the goalkeeper unawares with an unstoppable rocket which flew over her and into the net.

Story of the day was Ben Women goalkeeper Prisca Azubuike’s discontinuation of the match for inadequate protection from her defenders moments after conceding the 6th goal. Reserve goalkeeper, Cele Emeka completed the game, conceding three more in the final 20 minutes.

The result of the day however came in Abuja when Nasarawa Amazons routed Beautiful Tours 10-0 in their round of 16 clash. The Amazons scored five goals in each half as they left their opponents’ ego utterly bruised after the contest.
