2023 African Games gold medallist, Edidiong Umoafia has revealed that he has already commenced preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

The Commonwealth Games bronze medallist set a new national record in the men’s 73kg category with a lift of 150kg in the Snatch and 177kg in the Clean and Jerk, totaling 327kg at the 1st Engineer Habu Gumel National Open Weightlifting Championship in Abuja in December 2024.

Speaking exclusively to www.aclsports.com, Umoafia expressed his disappointment about missing out on the Paris 2024 Olympics but reaffirmed his commitment to his future goals.

“I want to make it to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and win a medal for Nigeria. Missing out on the Paris 2024 Olympics was disappointing, but I promised myself that I would never give up on my dreams.
