CAF has officially unveiled a brand-new trophy for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), ahead of the 2024 edition, www.aclsports.com reports.
Revealed on Wednesday night at a special event in Casablanca hosted by CAF and its long-term partner, TotalEnergies, the trophy is not just a piece of silverware but a powerful emblem of equality, unity, and the continent’s sporting ambition.
Inspired by the iconic men’s AFCON trophy, the new WAFCON design features a sophisticated, floral-inspired silhouette. Spiralling petals, each symbolizing a participating nation, rise in harmony to form the shape of a blooming flower, representing growth, empowerment, and the blossoming strength of women’s football in Africa.
At its heart rests a gleaming golden sphere, subtly crafted as a football and etched with a gold map of Africa. It radiates the continent’s pride, ambition, and growing global impact in the women’s game.

Crafted from brilliant silver and matte gold, the trophy’s body is wrapped in a golden ring engraved with the CAF logo, reaffirming the confederation’s dedication to elevating the women’s game across all 54 member associations. It stands tall on a white marble base with refined gold-accented stripes and bears the name of the competition in sleek matte gold lettering, a tribute to the evolving legacy of WAFCON.
The launch of the new trophy marks a significant milestone in CAF’s ongoing mission to develop women’s football and position Africa as a global force in the sport. According to CAF, this unveiling is part of a broader vision to ensure African women’s football ranks among the best in the world, both in talent and presentation.
As anticipation builds for WAFCON 2024 in Morocco, the new trophy will serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for millions of girls across the continent. It symbolizes what is possible: to dream, to believe, and to achieve on the grandest stages.
With its powerful design and symbolic resonance, the new WAFCON trophy isn’t just a reward, it’s a statement.
