Odbojkaški klub Niš player, Pascal Ozokoye told www.aclsports.com that his aim is to emerge the Best Blocker in the 2023/24 Serbian Superliga.

Pascal Ozokoye finished fourth Blocker in the first stanza of the 2023/24 Serbian Superliga.

The former Partizani VBC player revealed that adapting to the Serbian League did not take time due to the Nigerian spirit.

He said, “My target is to be the best Middle Blocker in the league; I had 30 blocks in the first stanza just three behind the number 1 Blocker

“I am currently amongst the top 5 Middle Blockers in the League. I want to top the rankings so that I’ll be able to make headway in my career and become a better player. The team has been supportive and I have adapted to the league; it is not an easy league but as you know, nothing is too hard for a Nigerian guy.

“It has not been easy adapting to the Serbian League but as a Nigerian you have to adapt to everywhere you’ve found yourself. Fortunately, for my good level of athleticism and the foundation which I had; the mindset to learn and grow whenever I am”.

The National U21 player expressed optimism of Odbojkaški klub Niš finishing among the Top 5 in the league.

He said, “The club has chances of finishing Top 5 because of we were champions in the past and second Vice Champions before relegating two years ago. The team placed second in the League 1 Division last year before gaining promotion back this season to participate.

“During the first stanza, we won 6 and lost one. The club was able to top the league in the first stanza before losing five of our matches due to errors. We are going to work on ourselves in the remaining match of the second stanza and finish well. Our coach is great; the team is filled with exciting young players who want to make names. I believe we are going to fight for the top spot”.

The former NSCDC player said his dream is to play in the European Volleyball League.

He said, “One of my aims is to play topflight volleyball in Europe. The Serbian League is great and I would also like to taste volleyball in Korean, Italian and others.

“I want to play in the European Volleyball League and ensure I become one of the best Middle Blockers in the world. I know it is not going to be an easy task but I am confident that I can make such a feat because I have great passion for volleyball.

“I want to attain a certain level of professionalism and success so that when I look back in the future, I’ll be accomplished. I want to fly the flag high and do my best”.

When asked if he will honour an invite ahead of the 13th African Games in Ghana, Ozokoye said, “It will be an honour if I am called to represent the country. For now, I am basically occupied with club activities but when the call up comes, I’ll have to obey my fatherland call because that is where my loyalty is.

I’ll have to discuss with the management of the club because I am here under obligation and come to an agreement. Basically, I’ll be glad to wear the colours of the country”.
