Volleyball: Ahly capture the 14th African club championship title

Al Ahly of Egypt have captured their 14th continental title in style after beating compatriots Smouha 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-19) in the final of the 2019 Men’s African Club Championship on Wednesday at Ahly hall in Cairo.

Ahly added their 14th crown to extend their record after 1980, 1983, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2017, and 2018.

Ahly Tripoli won bronze as they outclassed fellow Libyans Swehly 3-1(25-20, 19-25, 25-20, 25- 21) to finish on the bronze podium. With their ranking 3rd, Swehly completed on 4th to summed up a great championship for Libyan reps at the championship.

El Etihad of Libya also had a better finish in the championship following their triumph against Uganda’s Nemo Stars. The Libyans won 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 25-20) to take position 5 and the Ugandans got their best ever ranking with position 6.

Prisons Kenya completed their campaign in the 2019 Men’s African Club Championship ranked on seventh position after beating Asaria of Libya  3-0 (26-25, 25-17, 25-18). The Libyans occupy 8th on the ranking.
