Nigeria will take on Cameroon in the men’s quarterfinals of the ongoing 2021 African Senior Volleyball Nations Championship in Rwanda. The battle of the near neighbours will take place at the Kigali Arena on Saturday by 4pm.

Nigeria dug deep to defeat Ethiopia 3-1 (25-20, 25-12, 32-34, 25-17) in their last match of Pool B on Friday to record two wins and one loss while Cameroon were unbeaten in Pool C.

Coach of Nigeria men’s volleyball team, Usman Abdallah admitted that the match against Cameroon will be tough.

Abdallah told www.aclsports.com that the Nigerian team can pull a surprise against a highly exposed Cameroonian side

He said, “The Cameroonian team is going to be a tough nut to crack and we will not deceive ourselves by saying Nigeria will defeat them. I believe Cameroon can be beaten; you know they have been together for a long period of years.

“With the little time allocated for training before the quarterfinals, the team will strategise against the team. I and my assistant have watched them play in this championship; the boys will do their best and I pray at the end of the day that our best will be enough to take us to the semi-finals.

“I pray everything goes well for the team and at the end of the day we will be happy for the result”.

Meanwhile, Abdallah expressed satisfaction with his team’s display against the Ethiopia and he is now aiming to spring up a surprise in the quarterfinals

“It was a good performance from the team today, we played really well though it was a tough game from the Ethiopians,” Abdallah said after the game.
