Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala was on parade for Barcelona Femeni as they defeated Juventus to progress in the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL).

Oshoala played the entire 90 minutes as Barcelona Femeni defeated Juventus 2-1 (agg: 4-1) in their UWCL round of 32 tie at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.

Having won the first leg 2-0 in Turin, the Spanish giants were in pole position to progress to the next round provided they avoid a defeat at home.

As expected, Lluis Cortes came out with a strong line-up which included Super Falcons of Nigeria forward Asisat Oshoala after an impressive display over the weekend against Atletico Madrid.

Although the Nigerians forward, couldn’t find the back of the net, she was lively the throughout the game giving the Juventus defence a lot of work to do in plucking up her runs. That in turn opened up spaces which her team mates capitalised on to wreck havoc.

Barcelona Femeni secured a first half 2-0 lead and were comfortable for the remainder of the match. Although Juventus pulled one back midway through the second half, it wasn’t enough to give them the desired result as Barcelona progressed to the next round.

Also in the UWCL, Nigeria’s Charity Reuben was in action for Kazakhstan women’s league side BIIK Kazygurt on Wednesday evening.

Charity came on as a late substitute in her side’s 2-0 win over Anderlecht hence making it to the round of 16 of the competition.
