Manager of Premier League side Arsenal, Unai Emery, has challenged Nigeria international, Alex Iwobi, to do more following his impact in their draw against Liverpool at the Emirates on Saturday

Iwobi came off the bench to inspire the Gunners to a well deserved point against the Reds, threading the decisive through ball which was superbly finished by Alexandre Lacazette to cancel out James Milner’s opener for Liverpool.

It was the second assist of the season for the Nigerian, but according to his manager, Emery, the 22-year-old has the quality to do even more.

“We need every player,” the Spaniard said during his post match conference.

“The characteristics each player has is very important and Iwobi can impact high in the match. At the beginning and when he starts on the bench.

“Today (on Saturday) I think he is better on the left. His impact on parts of the match like our goal I think is important. His energy ad quality is important.”

“But he can improve, he can do better. He scored against Chelsea a lot of matches ago and I want him to be nearer the box to have chances to score more. I think he can.

“He is very young and is improving, but also with the ambition because he can do more.”

Iwobi has featured in eight of Arsenal’s 11 matches in the Premier League this season, scoring just one goal.
