Super Eagles forward, Dennis Bonaventure was on target as Club Brugge and Manchester United played a 1-1 draw in the Europa League on Thursday.

Bonaventure ended his goal-drought with a stunning goal 15 minutes into their round of 16 first leg match against United at the Jan Breydelstadion, Brugge.

It was his first goal for the club since December 22, 2019, but it was not enough to earn his Belgian side a famous win against the more illustrious English side.

Frenchman, Anthony Martial ensured the spoils are shared when he capitalised on an error to cancel Bonaventure’s opener before the break to hand United a valuable away goal.

Meanwhile, Bonaventure, who was a menace to the Red Devils back four all game, was not the only Nigerian who featured in the match at Brugge.

2019 AFCON golden boot winner, Odion Ighalo made his second appearance for the Red Devils after he replaced Martial on 67 minutes.

However, Ighalo will have to wait a while longer for his first goal in a United shirt after he hardly got a sniff of the Brugge goal for the 23 minutes he spent on the pitch.

United will host Brugge on February 27 for the second leg at Old Trafford.

Elsewhere on the night, Getafe were too good for Ajax following a 2-0 victory at home.

Two goals in either half from Deyverson and Kenedy earned the LaLiga side a comfortable win but they were without Oghenekaro Etebo, who was not listed.
