Nigeria U20 women’s team coach, Moses Aduku, says the Falconets are fully prepared and focused ahead of the first leg of their 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup third-round qualifier against Senegal on Saturday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The two-legged tie will begin at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta on Saturday, 7 February, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00. The return leg is set for Saturday, 14 February, at Stade Lat-Dior in Thiès, Senegal.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Friday, Aduku revealed that the squad has undergone intensive preparations in camp and emphasised the importance of approaching every match with the seriousness of a final. “The players are fit, focused, and ready. We have worked very hard in camp, and we approach every match with the seriousness of a final to maintain the right mentality and match sharpness,” he said.
Falconets captain Joy Igbokwe echoed her coach’s confidence, underlining the team’s unity and determination. “We are aware of what’s at stake, and we are ready to give our best performance in the home fixture. We will carry the same commitment into the return leg in Senegal,” she said.
Aduku also provided updates on the squad’s fitness, noting that two players recovering from minor knocks have returned to limited training, while another player has fully recovered from illness. He appealed to Nigerian football fans to come out in large numbers to support the team, highlighting the boost strong home backing provides. “The support of our fans will be very important to us, especially playing at home. It gives the players extra confidence and motivation,” he added.
The Falconets will be looking to start the tie strongly at home before heading to Senegal for the decisive return leg.
