Nigeria’s national Under 20 team; the Flying Eagles on Sunday arrived in Argentina ahead of this year’s FIFA U20 World Cup finals.

The Flying Eagles, coached by Ladan Bosso arrived at the South American nation after leaving Nigeria on Saturday night for a final phase of camping before the competition gets underway later this month.

The Flying Eagles are expected to play a couple of friendly matches with locally based clubs as they finetune and acquaint themselves with foreign oppositions before their first group game.

Nigeria have been drawn in Group D of the biennial tournament alongside football powerhouses Brazil, Italy and seeming minnows the Dominican Republic.

The Nigerian team will camp in Mendoza, venue of their first two group games in the far west of Argentina: against the Dominican Republic on May 21 and against Italy on May 24 before they fly to La Plata to face Brazil on May 27.

La Plata, Santiago del Estero, San Juan and Mendoza are the four host cities in Argentina where the 24-nation tournament will be held.

Bosso has kept faith with majority of the players that won the the World Cup ticket at the last U20,Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt including captain Daniel Bamayi, goalkeeper Chijioke Aniogboso, midfielder Daniel Daga and winger Haliru Seriki.

The former El-Kanemi coach has also found space to accommodate other talented players such as Victor Eletu, Tochukwu Nnadi and forward Kehinde Ibrahim .

The 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup will run between May 20 and June 11 in Argentina who were named hosts of the tournament after Indonesia were stripped of the hosting rights after a political row with Israel.

Nigeria have never won the FIFA U20 World Cup. The closest they have been to landing the trophy was in 1989 and then 2005 but they were beaten in the final on each occasion. Can Bosso and his boys achieve this?
