Nigeria U17 head coach, Eboboritse Uwejamomere, has named a team of 25 Golden Eaglets for this month’s WAFU-B U17 Championship starting in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, on Saturday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Nigeria, five-time world champions, have been placed in Group B of the tournament, which is a qualifying tournament for next year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Morocco.
The Eaglets will face Niger Republic and Cote d’Ivoire in the group stage, with hosts Burkina Faso to battle things out with Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic in group A.
The Golden Eaglets will depart Nigeria on Tuesday morning, and will have eight more days to work on their tactical and technical conditioning before their first match of the championship on 14th October.
In Eboboritse’s list are three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders and seven forwards, as the team hopes to qualify for the AFCON for the first time since 2023.
