Kenyan side Tusker FC have completed the signing of Nigerian Striker Victor Mbaoma from Remo Stars ahead of the 2026/27 football season, www.aclsports.com reports.
Mbaoma, 29, was joint top scorer in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with 14 goals as the defending champions, coming into the campaign, went down.
“I am really delighted to be joining Tusker FC. The coach and the management presented the club’s project to me and I was attracted to it. I have also gone back to look at the history of the team and this is a winning side. The team has an ambition to not only do well locally but also in Continental football, and that was a big attraction for me,” Mbaoma said after his unveiling.
Mbaoma will be playing in East Africa for the second time, having been in Rwanda, where he played for APR, also clinching the golden boot with a 15-goal haul.
The former Enyimba forward comes in with a rich pedigree and experience, becoming the Kenyan Cup champions’ first acquisition ahead of the 2026/27 season.
“I am glad to welcome Victor to the team as our first signing. He is an experienced player who I know very well and I am sure we will make great success together,” Tusker head coach Julien Mette said.
“I have qualified for the group stages of the Confederation Cup and the Champions League more than once, and I know what these kinds of games require. I am determined to help the team achieve such a feat because the coach impressed on me that the team wants to qualify for the group stages,” Mbaoma said about what he will bring to the side.
Mbaoma has massive experience in Continental football, which coach Mette was keen on as he pursued his signature. He has played 23 matches in the CAF Confederation Cup, scoring eight goals and assisting once. In the CAF Champions League, he has played nine games with four goals.
Mbaoma has already penned his contract with the team before flying back to Nigeria. He is set to return to Kenya at the end of the week, just in time for pre-season with his new teammates.
