Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur are finally set to announce their first signing of the summer, after reaching an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of defender, Davinson Sanchez, according to Sky Sports.

Sanchez is set to cost Spurs around £40million, which would smash their transfer record.

Sanchez, who was the player of the year at Ajax for last season, has also attracted the interest of Barcelona and Inter Milan of Italy.

The 21-year-old joined the Dutch side last year from Atletico Nacional, and has go on to make a total of 43 appearances, scoring six goals in the league.

The youngster was part of the Ajax team which lost the 2017 UEFA Europa League final to Spurs’ rivals, Manchester United, and missed the Dutch side’s season opener in the Eredivisie.

Once completed, he will become Mauricio Pochettino’s first foray into the transfer market this summer, having been in the hunt for a new defender for sometime now.
