Arsenal star, Alex Iwobi, is not the most popular Super Eagles player amongst Nigerians following his performance in the Total AFCON 2019 match against Guinea on Wednesday.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles became the first to book a place in the round of 16 in Egypt after a superb Kenneth Omeruo header earned them a narrow 1-0 win over Guinea.

Iwobi featured for 78 minutes but hardly covered himself in glory before making way for Samuel Chukwueze.

His display against the Guineans prompted Nigerians to turn to their various social media accounts to react.

Here are some of the reactions;

This Iwobi is so average.
Chukwueze would've finished that defender's career there

The evil Iwobi has done in this game is enough.

— 26. (@Temphiz) June 26, 2019

Thank God Iwobi is leaving. Useless...

— sly (@Foo_meee) June 26, 2019

Take Iwobi out

— Tola. (@LordDreyy) June 26, 2019

Ideally. Iwobi should be a Carpenter

— Mufu Montana (@LordOreos_) June 26, 2019

Iwobi can't even cross...what a man. @alexiwobi

— Dotun14 (@dotun_s) June 26, 2019

After the opener against Burundi, calls were made by Nigerians for Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr to drop captain, John Mikel Obi, from the number ten role and play Iwobi instead.

Iwobi was handed that role against Guinea but failed to take advantage of the chance to make the position his, according to this Nigerian.

Yes I agreed...Mikel was the spoiler in first game,Iwobi received the batton today https://t.co/NLwnpPIFRj

More ‘bashing’ for Iwobi

I’m happy all of us as a Nation will go through what Iwobi has been putting we Arsenal fans through since.

— Ibe 🎒 (@maziibe_) June 26, 2019

So Alex Iwobi is just as poor for Nigeria as he has been for Arsenal this year. It seems he inherited a bit of that Jay Jay Okocha flare but it’s such a shame he did not end up not inheriting that Jay Jay confidence #AFCON2019

I thought iwobi was god last week here ni 😂 https://t.co/IK88Qy13jb

Iwobi didn't step up
Simon decent
Omeruo and Balogun solid
Chukwueze in the middle doesn't work
Ndidi world class
Etebo over does it
Awaziem and Ola solid

Full time
Super Eagles are the first team to qualify.
Ndidi is a machine and he’s the man of the match.
Village people of Arsenal follow Iwobi today
Why does Coach Rohr don’t like to use his bench.
Na Grace of God keep for us no be our keeper #NGAGUI

Was Iwobi really that bad? This Nigerian believes so and goes ahead to call the 22-year-old ‘Aba made’.

FT: #NGA 1-0 #GUI

THE TRUTHS;
- Awazien justified the shirt
- Iwobi is Aba made
- Etebo & Ndidi just clears not creates
- Omeruo is better than Van Dijk
- Simon is one chance
- We miss Mikel
- Leon & Ola = decent
- Rohr still naive

Finally, it was not all knocks for the former Super Eagles hero as this particular fan says while Iwobi has yet to hit the heights he expects, he can still be a game changer for the Super Eagles.
