Coach Shittu of TojeMarine HC says he is not carried with the victories recorded at the ongoing 2024 Ardova Handball Premier League (phase 1) in Benin City, Edo State.

TojeMarine HC has maintained a 100% record by winning their four matches including a win against rival, Lagos Seasider.

Shittu revealed that the current squad are extremely fit and listens to every tactical instruction of the coaching crew.

He told www.aclsports.com that he is not impressed with the goal conversion ratio of his team, charging them to improve on it before the next match.

“It is good to win matches but I have told the boys to remain focused and not to get distracted early. In fact, every opportunity I have to engage the players outside the court, I always tell them never to change their winning and perspective to every match.

“Before the commencement of the league, I told you that the players were in camp for a month and were able to blend with each other. The players are fit and they have cultivated the habit of listening to details of instructions passed to them by the coaching crew.

Despite the exploit of the team, Shittu explained that TojeMarine HC is still a work in progress.

He said, “TojeMarine HC were 1st runners up at the 2023 Ardova Handball Premier League; we are still a team in progress and I have emphasised on the need to improve our goal scoring ability. If we meet a better side, our goal scoring will be instrumental to our victory.

“We are taking each game as they come, simple; no time to put the boys on pressure”, he told www.aclsports.com

When asked about his reaction to the victory over his former side, Lagos Seasider in the second match, Shittu said, “It is a family affair and a rival match for a long time; I told the boys to enjoy themselves since they were playing their friends”.

TojeMarine beat Adamawa Warriors (47 to 33 goals), Lagos Seasiders (33 to 26 goals), Confluence Star (10-0) and Correctional Boys (32 to 21 goals)
