Super Falcons forward Chinaza Uchendu was on target as SC Braga defeated Sporting CP in the semi-final of the Portuguese League cup.

Braga recorded a good 2-0 win over Sporting CP with Uchendu scoring the second in the 87th minute with a well taken left-footed strike to beat the Sporting goalkeeper at her near post.

Braga had initially taken the lead through Vanessa in the 29th minute who then had to cope with some little pressure from Sporting while the second and crucial goal eluded them. The Braga defence however remained impenetrable as eventually a long clearance forward found Uchendu who finished expertly to seal the win.

Uchendu was introduced into the game from the bench in the 72nd minute but her goal three minutes from the end of regulation time ensured it was a calm end to what would have been a nervy final minutes as Braga sealed a spot in the league cup final where they will now face Benfica.

In Spain, Asisat Oshoala was an unused substitute as Barcelona Femeni scored five unreplied goals in their win over Rita Chikwelu’s Madrid CFF.

Last week, Oshoala equalled Jenni Hermoso as the highest goal scorer in the league with both players scoring 20. The forward however pulled away from the Super Falcons striker at the weekend following her hat-trick against Madrid.

Meanwhile, unlike Oshoala who was on the bench throughout, Chikwelu was involved for Madrid CFF in the encounter but only for 74 minutes as they had no answer to a rampant Barcelona team.
