The Super Falcons of Nigeria began their preparation for the Women’s World Cup in France on Thursday afternoon with a friendly against the Steel Roses of China.

The nine time African Champions were defeated 3-0 by the Steel Roses in their opening match at the ongoing four-nation invitational tournament in China. A second half brace from Li Ying Wang to consolidate on Zhang Rui’s 10th minute opener ensured that China progressed to the final of the tournament.

Although based on the startling line-up many would argue that the Super Falcons played the majority of the game with less fire power compared to what they had on the bench with the likes of Rasheedat Ajibade and Francisca Ordega having to watch on from the sidelines.

Thomas Dennerby’s team however comprised of the likes of captain Onome Ebi, Osinachi Ohale, Faith Micheal, Chinwendu Chukwunonye all starting in defence while AWCON penalty hero, Tochukwu Oluehi who was also forced into a couple of saves started in goal.
