The 31-year-old Nigeria international, who spent two-and-a-half years at St Mary’s, made 40 appearances for the Saints.

“We thank Paul for his efforts during his time as a Saints player and wish him well,” the club said in a statement on their website.

All four of Onuachu’s goals for the club came last season when Saints finished bottom of the Premier League with 12 points and were relegated to the Championship – second tier of English football. Meanwhile, Onuachu spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Trabzonspor, scoring 15 times in 21 matches.

Onuachu, who was part of the Nigeria squad who finished as runners up in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations has 24 caps and three goals for the Super Eagles.
