Nigeria U20 women’s national team midfielder Shakirat Moshood has joined Portuguese club SCU Torreense on a two-year contract, www.aclsports.com reports.
The 18-year-old moves to Torreense from Bayelsa Queens after an impressive spell in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, where she helped the club win the league title in the 2024/2025 season and finish as runners-up in the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifiers.
Moshood’s move marks the start of her first professional chapter in Europe, with Torreense preparing for a historic campaign after securing qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time.
The midfielder announced herself on the international stage during the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, where she scored four goals in the group stage to finish joint second in the goalscoring charts, one behind eventual top scorer Pau, as Nigeria’s Flamingos reached the quarter-finals.
She later captained the Flamingos at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, leading the team to the Round of 16 before being named runner-up in the 2025 CAF Women’s Youth Player of the Year award.
Her performances at youth level earned her promotion to the Falconets, where she became an important member of Nigeria’s qualification campaign for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
Torreense will provide Shakirat Moshood with the opportunity to continue her development as she looks to build on her rapid rise and adapt to a new challenge in European football.
