2019 African Games bronze medallist, Saheed Idowu has revealed that he plans attending more professional table tennis tours in 2020.

Idowu told www.aclsports.com that the number of tours he attends will help boost his rankings.

The Congo table tennis player said, “In 2020 my main target is to improve my ranking in the world and this can only be attained if I attend professional tours.

“Last year, I attended less tournament that is why in the latest ranking released by ITTF, I am ranked 136. The tours will help boost my career this year”.

The Olympian told www.aclsports.com that his focus is on qualifying for Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

He said, “If I focus and perform well at African and International tournaments, I have confidence of being at the Olympics for the second time after London 2012 Olympics. I am aware it is not going to be easy because every player wants to be at Tokyo but I will give my best”.

Idowu said his most exciting moment in 2019 was winning a team bronze medal with the cadet and junior players at the 2019 African Games in Morocco.

He said, “When I won bronze medal at the African Games in team event, I was full of joy because it was an unbelievable performance from cadet and junior players as well as I who represented Congo”.

“I want to deeply thank my sponsor GEWO Company for believing in my capacity and Chief Sunday Ighoho who has been supportive financially to the growth of my career”, Idowu said.
