Six-time African Women’s Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, starred in Al Hilal’s comeback win, scoring and providing an assist as they overturned a first-leg deficit with a 5–1 second-leg victory over Al Ahli in the SAFF Women’s Cup on Friday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Oshoala, now on her 16th goal contribution across all competitions, has 13 goals and three assists this season. This match marked her third game in which she both scored and assisted.
In the 69th minute, Oshoala set up Fatimah Mansour for the goal that gave Al Hilal the aggregate lead. Two minutes later, a lightning-quick counter saw Al Bandari Mobarak release Oshoala, and she weaved past three defenders to score, making it 4–1 on the night.
Al Hilal went into the match trailing 2–1 from the first leg. Al Ahli looked in control early on when Naomie Kabakaba opened the scoring in the 9th minute, but Jessica Silva equalised in the 18th minute to keep Al Hilal in contention.
Moroccan captain and 2025 CAF Women’s Player of the Year, Ghizlane Chebback, put Al Hilal ahead in the 61st minute, and Oshoala’s goal and assist soon put the game beyond the home side.
Oshoala was later replaced by Kheira Hamraoui, who added Al Hilal’s fifth goal, capping a dominant display and sealing a 6–3 aggregate triumph. The win continues the momentum Oshoala built with back-to-back hat-tricks in the SAFF Women’s Challenge Cup, where Al Hilal reached the final before falling to Al Nassr.
Al Hilal will now turn their attention back to the league, facing Al Qadsiah on Thursday, 29 January, looking to carry their winning form into domestic action.
