Super Falcons midfielder, Rita Chikwelu has completed a move to the Spanish top-flight after agreeing terms with Madrid CFF.

Following three productive years in Sweden at Kristianstads, Chikwelu joins the Spanish Primera Iberdrola club for the remainder of the 2019-20 season, according to goal.com.

During her time in the Swedish top-flight, the former Super Falcons Captain scored 12 goals in 64 appearances finishing as 2019 Swedish Women’s Cup runners-up.

The 31 year-old will reunite with her compatriot Chidinma Okeke, who joined Madrid CFF last summer but is out injured recuperating from a knee injury suffered in October, 2019.

By virtue of this move, Chikwelu becomes the seventh Nigerian to be plying her trade in Spain following the earlier arrival of Asisat Oshoala, Charity Adule, Alice Ogebe, Peace Efih, Osinachi Ohale and new team mate, Chidinma Okeke.

Chikwelu will look to make her debut against Ogebe’s Real Betis on Sunday as Madrid CFF battle for survival.
